Overview

Venues compete for the booking instead of the host ringing round.

Booking a venue normally means calling a dozen places, getting a different answer from each, and never being sure whether the price quoted was the best anyone would have offered. The host does all the work and still cannot compare like with like.

Wedlay turns it around. The host posts the event once — date, city, headcount, budget and what the day needs — and venues bid against it inside a set window. Every bid arrives in the same shape, so price, capacity and what is actually included sit side by side rather than scattered across phone calls.

It covers every kind of event venue: banquet halls, marquees, lawns, farmhouses, hotel ballrooms and conference spaces, along with the vendors around them. The host awards the booking — usually on price, sometimes on fit — the date locks on the venue's calendar, and the advance is paid through the platform.

Capabilities

Request, bid, award, book

Two sides of one market: hosts who need a venue, venues who need the date filled.

  • Event request

Posted once with date, city, headcount, budget and event type, then broadcast to matching venues.

  • Venue network

Banquet halls, marquees, lawns, farmhouses, hotels and conference spaces, each with verified capacity and photos.

  • Bidding window

Venues submit quotations inside a set window, so the host is not negotiating for a fortnight.

  • Like-for-like comparison

Every bid in the same format — price per head, hall charge, menu, inclusions — compared side by side.

  • Counter and revise

The host can invite a revised bid, and venues see where they stand without seeing each other's numbers.

  • Award and lock

Accepting a bid blocks the date on that venue's calendar and closes the request to the rest.

  • Advance and payments

Advance taken on acceptance, with the balance scheduled against the event date.

  • Event vendors

Decor, catering, photography and sound bid the same way and attach to the same event.

  • Ratings and reporting

Post-event ratings, plus demand by city and season, win rates and average bid per venue.

Who it is for

You probably recognise one of these.

  • A host ringing round a dozen halls and still not knowing whether the price was fair.
  • A venue sitting on empty midweek and off-season dates with no channel to fill them.
  • A family comparing quotes that are not comparable, because every hall prices differently.
  • An event vendor who wants enquiries without paying a commission on every lead.
